Gentle candlelight and musical harmonies fill the space. Neighbors meditating, singing, praying and living in the presence of God. You are invited to worship by joining in song or simply letting the music or silence surround and fill you.

FIRST SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH, 5 PM, IN-PERSON WORSHIP

Contemplative Worship at St. Andrew’s is very different than typical Christian worship. It’s filled with music from the ecumenical community in Taizé, France. This style of Christian music features a simple, slow song, repeated many times, much like the mantras of South Asian spiritual traditions. Every month one scripture passage and a meditative reading is presented, along with silent meditation and Holy Communion

Virtual Contemplative  Services

In March 2020, at the start of the pandemic, St. Andrew’s launched weekly virtual Contemplative Services, with prayers and music produced for our YouTube channel.

The service had engagement from faithful viewers both locally in the Seattle area and across the world. Musicians Kester Limner and Andy Myers performed and recorded new music and kyries for the services, and Carrie Grace Littauer led worship and produced the videos.

The project resulted in a full lectionary’s cycle of services and was a beacon of hope and calm in a turbulent time.

The weekly virtual services concluded in February 2024. St. Andrew’s will continue to host all the past virtual Contemplative Services in the Spirit of Taizé on our YouTube channel.
