"Silence is God's first language... everything else is a poor translation."

CENTERING PRAYER
Centering Prayer is a simple practice of silent, contemplative prayer that invites us to rest in God’s presence and deepen our awareness of God’s love in daily life. This is a joint ecumenical ministry shared by St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, St. Joseph Parish (Roman Catholic), and Contemplative Outreach Northwest, welcoming people from either congregation and the wider community.
Whether you are new to Centering Prayer or have an established practice, you are warmly invited to take part. While rooted in the Christian contemplative tradition and shaped in part by the teaching of Father Thomas Keating and Contemplative Outreach, this ministry welcomes people from a range of faith backgrounds who are drawn to prayerful silence.
Our gatherings offer a gentle and welcoming rhythm. A typical meeting includes a brief reading, a period of silent prayer, a short meditative walk, a second period of silent prayer, and time for quiet fellowship. You do not need prior experience to join.
