“Is any one among you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.” -James 5:14
Since the time of the early church, lay healers have been called from the community. At St. Andrew’s, healing ministers serve during Sunday Morning Prayer. They pray for the individual needs of community members. Those who serve in the healing ministry receive specific training for this ministry. If you would like more information or if you would like to explore participating in this ministry please contact Theresa Newell (theresa.newell01@gmail.com) Pastoral Care Minister.
Currently, individual and private prayer is available with a healing minister each Sunday from 9am-11am. You can contact our clergy directly to be connected with this week’s Healing Minister by phone this Sunday, or, send us a Facebook message through our St. Andrew’s Facebook page to be connected.
When services are in person, healing ministers are stationed near the communion rail. Healing ministers offer special healing prayers, laying on of hands, and anointing to those who request this spiritual support. We are recruiting additional ministers for all Sunday services. Training is provided for those who choose to pursue this ministry. Healing ministers usually serve in this ministry once a month.
