“I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”
–Matthew 25:36
For over three decades, St. Luke’s (our sister church in the heart of Ballard), has been welcoming anyone who needs a meal to their church basement. Each weekday morning, a team of volunteers prepare donated coffee and food and serve meals in a warm place for guests to enjoy. They listen to and care for guests, and pray for and with them (with permission).
On average, Edible Hope Kitchen serves over 100 breakfast meals each day, Monday-Friday. (about 2,000 meals per month). We warmly welcome volunteers from Ballard and beyond who would like to contribute to this service to our neighbors in need and living outside. If you want more information, please contact Sara Bates at 206-784-3119, email meals@stlukesseattle.org, or sign up to volunteer. If you’re not a morning person, there’s still a place for you! They also need volunteers to do prep work some afternoons and evenings.
